Highlights
Medicine Wheel 4, Day 1: The weather was not very cooperative. It was cold, windy, and the cloud ceiling was 7000 feet. After the sign in and safety briefing at 7:30, we were escorted to the launch site. Because of concerns about old explosives (the Air Base only uses live ordinance), any rocket that landed more than a kilometer from the launch site was retrieved by military personnel. I first flew my Javelin on a J350-W, and the dual deployment worked as planned. The IA-X96 reported 2907 feet, 12.3 G's and 311 max MPH. I then flew the Nike Smoke for its maiden flight. I couldn't locate a J350-W, so I went with an I284-W. It had a nice flight, the AltAcc deployed the main at apogee as planned. The AltAcc reported 1002 feet, 6.5 G's, and 157 max MPH. The Silver Comet #2 was next with a G33-7J for another nice flight. It was too windy and the cloud ceiling was too low for any of the K motor flights I had planned, so I called it a day.
